Ewha's Mission to Establish International Research Center for Cancer Immunotherapy with Jackson Laboratory

Ewha established a new International Research Center for cancer immunotherapy with Jakson Lab in 2015. Ewha-JAX International Research Center for cancer immunotherapy was recently endowed by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.

The research directors include Professor Jaesang Kim, Ewha's Professor Sang-hyuk Lee and Jackson Lab's endowed chair Professor Charles Lee. The Jackson Laboratory is a world renowned biomedical research institution dedicated to contributing towards a future of better health care based on the unique genetic makeup of each individual.

Ewha-JAX International Research Center for cancer immunotherapy will pursue various exchange programs for all institution researchers as well as education and training purposes. The institution is expected to become a leading research institution for the global cancer immunotherapy field. On Friday, October 2nd, Ewha will host “EWHA-JAX Joint Symposium on Genomic Medicine” at the Ewha-SK telecom Center.

​Ewha hosted "EWHA-JAX Joint Symposium on Genomic Medicine at the Ewha SK Telecom Center and Convention Hall on October 2. The symposium was the first joint initiative for the two institutions.

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) and EWHA Womans University intend to develop cooperative initiatives in genomics-based medical research. With the emergence of precision medicine, highlighted in U.S. President Obama’s 2015 State of the Union speech, researchers are taking an innovative approach to disease prevention and treatment based on each patient’s unique genetic makeup.

The participants of the symposium include JAX President/CEO, Dr. Edison Liu, Professor Charles Lee, Professor Yijun Ruan, Dr. George Weinstock, Dr. Laura G. Reinholdt, Dr. Ewelina Bolcun-Filas from JAX and Prof. Goo Teag Oh, Prof. Duk Hee Kang, Prof. Sanghyuk Lee from Ewha.
